Statement From:
Samuel Mitchell, president, The Valvoline Co., regarding Johnny Benson's NASCAR victory:

(Johnny Benson won his first career NASCAR Winston Cup race in Sunday's Pop Secret 400 at Rockingham Speedway. Valvoline is co-owner, as well as sponsor, of Benson's Valvoline Pontiac Grand Prix. Valvoline is the first major consumer products company to co-own a Winston Cup team, a business relationship which began last year.)

"Today, Johnny Benson added yet another chapter to Valvoline's long history of racing success, not only in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, but also in the Indianapolis 500, NHRA, Formula One, and other major motorsports' events around the world. Valvoline employees everywhere join me in congratulating Johnny, crew chief James Ince, general manager Jay Frye, our partners Tom Beard, Nelson Bowers II and Read Morton, and the entire No. 10 Valvoline Pontiac team.

"This win is truly history-making. Not only is it Johnny's first career Winston Cup victory, it also is the first for Valvoline as a team co-owner. When Valvoline made the landmark decision in August 2000 to become the first major consumer products company to co-own a Winston Cup team, we believed it was more than a sound business move. It also symbolizes the bold and innovative thinking that is the Valvoline way of doing business, which leads to the performance and quality found in all our Valvoline, Eagle One and Zerex products. Our victory today reinforces Valvoline's reputation as an industry leader.

"We are extremely excited, and incredibly proud to be associated with Johnny Benson."
