Truex takes Stage 2 win over Keselowski at Las Vegas

Martin Truex Jr. won Stage 2 with a 0.458-second advantage over Brad Keselowski.

Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman and Jimmie Johnson rounded out the top-10 finishers.

Truex led the Kobalt 400 field to start Stage 2 followed by followed by Kyle Larson, Keselowski, Elliott, Earnhardt Jr., Ryan Newman, Erik Jones, Paul Menard, Trevor Bayne and Austin Dillon — all who stayed out on the track between the segments.

Larson stuck his nose out entering the first turn on the restart, but Truex completed the pass on the backstretch and led by 0.226 at the line. By Lap 100, Truex had extended his lead by 1.589-seconds over Keselowski, Elliott, Larson and Earnhardt.

On Lap 110, Truex remained in the lead with a 2.239-second advantage over the No. 2 Ford. Elliott, Larson and Earnhardt still comprised the top five. Twenty laps later, the space was 3.388-seconds between Truex and Keselowski.

Pit stops started on Lap 122 with Paul Menard. The leaders came in for service between Laps 124-126. Truex relinquished the point to pit on Lap 125. One lap later, Kyle Busch was busted for speeding in Section 6. He served his pass-thru penalty on Lap 129 and fell off of the lead lap to 22nd.

Truex cycled out to the lead on Lap 130 as he passed Matt DiBenedetto. Elliott, Keselowski, Larson, Johnson, Earnhardt, Logano, Newman, Jones and Blaney rounded out the top 10 following stops.

On Lap 135, Truex lead over Elliott was 3.225-seconds. With 15 laps to settle the stage, Truex led Elliott by 3.5-seconds. Keselowski held onto third followed by Larson and Johnson.

On Lap 151, Derrike Cope triggered the fourth caution when he spun in Turn 2. Truex was in the lead, but Elliott had cut his advantage to under three seconds followed by Keselowski, Larson, Johnson, Logano, Earnhardt, Jones, Newman and Blaney.

When the leaders came to pit road on Lap 153, Johnson and Kurt Busch remained on the track. Truex was the first of the lead laps off of pit road with Keselowski, Elliott, McMurray, Logano, Earnhardt, Blaney and Newman in tow. Kyle Busch received the lucky dog and restarted 18th.

Johnson held the point, but went high on the restart, which opened the door for Truex and Keselowski. Truex regained the lead followed by Keselowski, Larson, Logano, Johnson, Blaney, Earnhardt, Kurt Busch, Newman, Hamlin, McMurray, Erik Jones and Trevor Bayne.
