CORNELIUS, N.C. — No. 56 NAPA Batteries Toyota driver Martin Truex Jr. enters Saturday night’s 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Daytona International Speedway in eighth place in the championship points standings. He owns a 53-point lead compared to the 11th-place driver in the battle for the 10 points berths in the Chase. Truex’s impressive 2012 season already includes: one pole, 318 laps led, four top-five and nine top-10 finishes.
The No. 56 will sport a special black and white paint scheme to promote NAPA’s “Get Back and Give Back” program that raises money for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF), an independent not-for-profit serving United States military personnel wounded or injured in service and their families.
Martin Truex Jr. on NAPA Batteries Get Back and Give Back Promotion: “When it comes to all the paint schemes I have ever had, this one is my favorite! We’re running the NAPA Batteries Toyota, and with the scheme comes some really cool things that we are doing this weekend. I am very happy to have on board with me this weekend the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. I hope through NAPA’s Get Back and Give Back promotion, we can raise a lot of money to help wounded soldiers and their families. I am even going to have four soldiers who benefit from the Fund with me this weekend. They are going to be Honorary Pit Crew Members and have their names on my NAPA Batteries Toyota. It sure would be cool to bring those boys with me to victory lane on Saturday night and spray some champagne on them. NAPA does some wonderful public service projects and this one is pretty special. It is so important for us to give back to the folks who serve our country whenever we can. I am really proud and feel privileged to join NAPA on this project.”
Truex on Daytona: “This race should be a lot of fun. It is going to be hot as usual, but I am looking forward to it. My entire NAPA KNOW HOW team has been doing a great job. I look forward to getting down there and having some more fun!”
