Tony Stewart's teammates speak out

Danica Patrick and Kevin Harvick speak about having their team owner and friend back at the track.

Tony Stewart’s team mates are on board to help out their team owner and friend during a tough return to the garage area after the accident with Kevin Ward Jr. three weeks ago.

It will be good to have him back,” Danica Patrick told the Indianapolis Star.

“We’ll be all on board to help him with whatever he needs.”

Stewart made his first public appearance since before the accident this afternoon at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, in a short but emotional personally prepared speech.

Obviously heavily impacted by this tragedy, Stewart admitted that being in the race car will be the best thing for him.

His team mate and friend Kevin Harvick echoed his thoughts.

“I’m least concerned about the racing side of it. I know for him that will be great medicine to have some type of normal activity in his life again that he hasn’t been able to have,” Harvick said.

“From a personal standpoint, I’m glad to see my friend and be able to talk to him and be able to support him through probably what will be the hardest situation he’s had to go through in his whole life. That to me is the most important thing.”
