Tommy Baldwin Racing driver looking for success in California

Four events, four results better than the last.

Michael Annett and the No. 7 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS race team out of the Tommy Baldwin Racing head west this weekend to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., for the fifth race of the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Annett looks to continue the growth that has occurred over the first four races, in which he earned finishes of 37th, 34th, 29th and 26th, improving his result with each passing event.

Sunday's race will serve as the Rookie of the Year candidate's first Cup Series attempt at Auto Club Speedway. In six NASCAR Nationwide Series races at the two-mile facility, Annett never finished worse than 20th, averaging a 14.7-place result with a best finish of sixth coming in 2009.

Kevin "Bono" Manion, Annett's crew chief, oversaw cars driven by Jamie McMurray that earned two poles at the Fontana track, both coming in the 2010 Cup Series season.

The race airs live Sunday, March 23 at 3:15 pm Eastern on FOX.

"I was injured and unable to race in Fontana last year (in the NASCAR Nationwide Series), but from where I sat it was a really exciting race. It has become a really racy track, which should work well for us this weekend. I think we can continue to build on the momentum from Las Vegas and Bristol and keep growing as a team."
