Qualifying for the UAW Daimler-Chrysler 400 concluded with Todd Bodine on the pole. Both Bodine and teammate Joe Nemechek will be running their first race minus a sponsor. Their former primary sponsor, KMart, recently won a ruling in bankruptcy court, approving their departure from the Haas-Carter owned Fords.

Starting alongside Bodine in row one is Raybestos rookie contender Ryan Newman. Newman's teammate Rusty Wallace was forced to use a provisional and will start the race outside of row 19.

Bobby Labonte was the first of the 44 cars attempting to make Sunday's race in Las Vegas, with only one car failing to qualify, that of former Daytona 500 winner, Derrike Cope.
