CHARLOTTE, N.C., (May 2, 2000) -- The Children's Hospital at St. Francis in Tulsa, Okla. is one of three children's hospitals along the ride route that will benefit from the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. The Duke Children's Hospital in Durham, N.C. and Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. are also benefiting as well as the Winston Cup Racing Wives Auxiliary and The Hole in the Wall Gang Camps for Kids founded by Paul Newman. The Charity Ride will make a stop at the Children's Hospital at St. Francis on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 3, where Kyle, Richard, and Adam Petty, along with the other celebrity riders, will visit with the children. The monies the hospital receives will go toward the purchase of a Starbright Computer System for the children to use while at the facility. The Charity Ride will visit the Duke Children's Hospital Sunday, May 7, as the group proceeds from Richmond, Va. to the Kyle Petty Family Farm. They will use the money they receive to promote research and support children's services. Brenner Children's Hospital, which has received monies for several years, will be presented with a check between the Sawyer Brown and Toby Keith concerts at the Petty Farm. A variety of NASCAR souvenir trailers and simulators will be on hand for the journey-ending event and everyone is welcome. Tickets for the concert can be purchased from Ticketmaster for $20 before the event and $30 at the gate on Sunday. Children under six are admitted free with an accompanying adult.
