DAVE BLANEY, No. 22 Caterpillar Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing: Starting position: 40th

How do you feel about not being able to qualify? "There's nothing we can do about it. We weren't fast enough in practice. We were struggling a little bit, but we think we had a handle on what was going on. It was pretty stressful today, not feeling good enough about the car and not having enough speed during the practice. That wasn't a good feeling. We'll start over tomorrow and go from there."

JEREMY MAYFIELD, No. 36 360 OTC Toyota Camry, Bill Davis Racing: Starting position: DNQ

What do you think of not having the chance to qualify? "Obviously, it stinks -- especially with the year we've had. I've come to realize that all we can do is all we can do. You can't change the weather or you can't rearrange it -- you just have to go with it. We have a great car here. It's the best we've ever been. And it really stinks that we don't get a chance to show it."

How did you know you had a great car here at Texas? "We made a couple laps this morning. It was probably the best we've been all year right off the truck. Our program's getting better week-in and week-out. We haven't had a chance to show it yet, but I promise you we're heading in the right direction. The first two laps here were a lot better than we started out in Atlanta, and in Atlanta we were better than we were in Las Vegas. We're heading in the right direction -- it's just a matter of time."

Is your race team still motivated? "All our guys are pumped up and it's like we haven't missed any races. That's a really good sign. That's something we've been pretty good at. We've been beaten down pretty hard, but we are still focused and enjoying what we're doing. Everybody is still pumped up and knows the direction we're headed in is the right one."

Why do you enjoy racing at Texas? "Texas is probably my favorite race track of all. The people are great. There's a great Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops near the track. I like Texas a lot. Unfortunately, I don't get to stay."
