Tony Stewart To Run Special NASCAR Day-Themed Paint Scheme In Sunday's Samsung 500
NASCAR Day Pins Available at The Home Depot Locations Nationwide Beginning April 16
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 12, 2007) -- Tony Stewart's No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet will take to the track this weekend with a slightly different look as The Home Depot shows its support for NASCAR Day 2007, now just a little more than a month away.
The Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer and the "Official Home Improvement Warehouse of NASCAR," is this year's exclusive retailer of NASCAR Day. In support of the initiative, the company will run a special NASCAR Day-themed paint scheme on the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet driven by two-time NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart as he competes in the Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, April 16 (FOX, 1:30 p.m. EST).
Starting Monday, April 16 fans will be able to make a $5 donation at any of the 2,167 The Home Depot locations nationwide and in return will receive a commemorative 2007 NASCAR Day lapel pin designed by NASCAR artist Sam Bass. Proceeds raised from NASCAR Day pins at The Home Depot locations will benefit The NASCAR Foundation and The Home Depot's national nonprofit partner KaBOOM!
NASCAR Day, which this year is on May 18, is an annual, charitable celebration of the spirit of NASCAR fans that last year raised more than $1.3 million, with 98,000 pins sold online at NASCAR.com and more than 3,000 company locations participating all across the country. Former American Idol and two-time Grammy-winning singer Kelly Clarkson is the official 2007 spokesperson for NASCAR Day.
Fans interested in participating in NASCAR Day can also obtain a pin, sign up his or her company and even purchase NASCAR Day apparel by going to www.nascar.com/foundation. NASCAR fans, corporations, schools and organizations across the country are encouraged to donate $5 and all participants receive a collectible 2007 NASCAR Day lapel pin for their donation.
Also supporting NASCAR Day in a big way is television partner SPEED. For the first time in the short history of NASCAR Day, the NASCAR Foundation will hold a telethon on May 18 from the Sam Bass Gallery in Concord, N.C., with SPEED giving updates throughout the day. Fans will be encouraged on NASCAR Day to dial 1-888-May18th (1-888-629-1884) and make a pledge to this most worthy of causes.
To wrap up the events from the weekend, The NASCAR Foundation will be holding an online auction to raise additional funds for NASCAR Day. The auction will launch on Monday, April 16 on NASCAR.com and will include, in addition to various NASCAR memorabilia, autographed items worn by Clarkson during the shooting of her NASCAR Day commercial.
