Martin Truex Jr., No. 1 Bass Pro Shops / Tracker Boats Monte Carlo SS met with media to discuss Bruton Smith's purchase of NHIS, the Nationwide Series, his beliefs on luck, the upcoming Phoenix race, the frustration of his bad luck in the Chase, the morale of the team, on the Atlanta test, and how he views the Car of Tomorrow.

ON BOB BAHRE SELLING NEW HAMPSHIRE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY TO BRUTON SMITH "Bob Bahre has done a great job for racing in the northeast in general. What that speedway did for a lot of guys up there, like me, has been awesome. He's done a great job with the track. He's always been one of the track owners that you'd see at the track and comes up to you. He did a lot for the competitors, especially the smaller guys like the Busch North guys. He was great. I hate to see him go. But hopefully they'll keep the track around for a long time. There are a lot of great fans up there in the northeast."

DO YOU BELIEVE IN BACK LUCK AND GOOD LUCK? "We believe in bad (luck). Especially this year, I can tell you that. Yeah, what do you do? It is what it is. You go out and race and you do the best you can and some things just aren't meant to be. You've just got to keep working hard and try to win some more races."

LOOKING AHEAD TO PHOENIX "I've always enjoyed racing at Phoenix. The CoT seemed to put on a good race there last time. The track gets wide. It gets two grooves. You get an outside groove in the race and that makes it a lot more fun. It is definitely a short track. It's pretty flat. It's similar to New Hampshire. But it's unique with the dogleg in the back straightaway. Both turns are fairly different. So it's definitely a challenging race track for all of us, but it's definitely fun to race on."

HOW FRUSTRATING IS IT TO GO TO THE RACE TRACK EVERY WEEK WITH A CAR THAT CAN WIN, AND THEN SOMETHING STUPID HAPPENS? "I can't even tell you. It's so hard not to think about what could be and what might have been and where we can be sitting in the Chase. But it is what it is. We're 12th. We're 500 points out. There is nothing we can do about it. We just need to go out this week and do the best job we can do and put our Bass Pro Chevrolet in Victory Lane."

DOES LAS VEGAS DESERVE TWO RACE DATES? WHAT WOULD YOU THINK IF NEW HAMPSHIRE ONLY HAD ONE DATE? "I don't know if I'm willing to say what tracks deserve however many dates. I enjoy going there. The fans up there are great. It's done a lot for my career and for a lot of people's career up in the northeast. So I'd hate to see one of the two dates go. But it is what it is. I want to say thanks to Bob Bahre for all he's done for short track racing and then for all of us up in the northeast throughout the years. Hopefully that track will continue to be a great one for us."
