STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge)
"We made two qualifying runs this morning. The rest of the time we worked on race setup. They told me to stay off the chicken stick (brake). I almost did, but I had to touch it a couple of times in qualifying. I wanted to hold it wide open, but something told me I couldn't do it. I think the groove here will widen up. It looks wider than it normally is already. We had some problems at Atlanta and Las Vegas, and we should have caught them and we didn't. It got away from us, and we got it back like it's supposed to be now."
CASEY MEARS (No. 41 Fuji Film/Target Dodge)
"This place is a lot of fun. I enjoy this feel in a racecar. The lap was pretty good. We had some soft springs on the car. We put in a good lap, but the car was just a little bit free. It ended up bottoming out and took our time away. If it hadn't done that, we had a very good shot at the pole. I think we'll be good in the race. It's the same car we ran at Las Vegas and Atlanta. We had good cars there, so if that means anything we'll be pretty good."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 ALLTEL Dodge)
"I told Matt that's all we had and there ain't no more. The car was pretty balanced, but we just didn't have the speed on the chart. We changed things from practice and definitely made it better. Hopefully we'll get some laps in practice tomorrow. It's a new car and we need to shake it out in race trim. Bobby Labonte won the pole here last year and we won the race, so it would suit me just fine if it works out that way again. We're halfway there I guess."
JEREMY MAYFIELD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge)
"That was a pretty good lap. It won't do us a lot of good now other than for pit selection because we had to change engines. The guys did a good job getting the car ready for qualifying. We'll work on the setup tomorrow and get ready for a good race on Sunday."
KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Georgia-Pacific/Brawny Dodge)
"To tell you the truth this is one of the few times we've paid attention to qualifying this year and we only paid about half attention to it today. We work on race setup mostly in practice, but we had a decent qualifying run today."
