Right-front tire problem: "It just got a little tight off of turn 2, but I'd driven a higher line that lap. When I got down to the end of the backstretch, I felt just a vibration right off early. Fortunately for me, I felt it, but it wasn't quite soon enough to keep from hitting the wall, but soon enough to keep from hitting it very hard at least. We're going to try to get back out. We need to stay 28th in the Owners Points and 24th in the Drivers Points and there are guys who could catch us theoretically if they have a good day. We've had a bad one now so we've just got to get out there and make the most of what we've got left."
Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Dupont Chevrolet Monte Carlo (finished 15th):
Did the #31 Robby Gordon spin you out? "Oh, absolutely. There's no doubt in my mind. See, everybody thought you couldn't make me mad. You can make me mad. That #31 certainly did (make me mad) today. It was a heck of a battle. It was between me and him anyway. I just wish it would have been done fair and square instead of just knocking a guy out of the way. We had some lapped traffic to go through. And you've got to be patient. I don't care if there's 15 laps to go, you've got to be patient.
"I'm just real proud of these guys this year. It's been a blessing to be involved with this great race team. What an effort that was today. I think we showed them that we weren't just going to come up here to New Hampshire and walk away. We wanted to come up here and show them what we're made of and that was just an awesome effort. That was just a shame."
Any regrets on the retaliation? "I was mad. At the time - hey, I understand why guys do that kind of stuff. I just wish I would have taken his tire down or something so at least he wouldn't have won the race. I just didn't do a very good job of it. But, you know, it's not sportsman-like, I know. But hey man, I didn't think it was sportsman-like what he did to me and they (NASCAR) didn't penalize him.
"There wasn't any room down there. I was already on the inside. That's just a shame. We had such an awesome racecar today. It was going to be a great race. He and I had the best car out there at the end. We had the best tires. It was going to be a heck of a battle with just he and I. But you don't need to do that with 15 laps to go - not when we're trying to get through traffic. You don't have to hit somebody. I just wish he would have passed me fair and square like I did him the lap before."
