Team Gordon Darlington Sunday notes

Robby Gordon ...

Robby Gordon #13 Menards/Duracell Ford Taurus 400 Race Notes/Quotes Sunday, March 19, 2000 Round 5 of 34 in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series Darlington Raceway - Darlington, SC

Qualifying position - 40th Finishing Position - 28th

Robby Gordon finished 28th in Sunday's 400 from the Darlington Raceway. Gordon ran strong in the early stages of the race, remaining on the lead lap for the first 100 laps until a vibration forced him to pit for tires and fall one lap down.

Later in the race, lap 202, Gordon pit for tires and fuel, then went three laps down when Earnhardt Jr. crashed on the next lap, allowing everyone in the field to pit under a yellow.

ROBBY GORDON - "That's one tough race. I'm glad this is in the books and we can move on to Bristol. We had some good stints, but we also had some stints out there where we were pretty bad. Some of that was me, I hit the wall again in almost the same spot as yesterday. It was just a tap, the rear-end got loose on exit and slapped it, but we kept going.

"On the positive, we take home a new notebook on one of those tracks that everyone has circled in red ink. I drove my heart out out there, but just when I'd get comfortable, the car would go another way and we'd have to adjust, both with the car and with the driver. That's what makes this place difficult. I think the only way to come in here and succeed is to have a few races under your belt. We've got one now, and actually, we leave here in pretty good shape if you look at it that way!

"I do want to mention the crew, they did a great job this weekend in the pits. Our pit stops have really started coming around."
