KASEY KAHNE QUOTES

"We've continued to improve our superspeedway program this year and I've learned more about drafting. It's essential to have drafting partners at Talladega and to know which line of cars has the ability to take you to the front. That comes with experience. At the same time, a driver has to be totally focused on what he is doing -- no mistakes. I like the competition at Talladega, but it's intense.

"There have been a lot of different strategies used at Talladega. We just want to have the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger around for the final 100 miles. It doesn't matter whether you're running up front or back in the field for the first 400 miles. The key is staying out of trouble and keeping the racecar clean. The race will be decided in the last few laps, and it's not a problem to move from back in the field to the front. It will probably happen. The decision is picking the right drafting partners to take you there.

"It's important for our team to get a good finish here (Talladega) in the final superspeedway/restrictor plate race of the year in preparation for the 2006 season opener at Daytona."

SPENDING TIME UP FRONT
Kahne is ranked sixth overall of active drivers in the 2005 season for laps led. He has been at the point position for 395 laps this season after 28 races.

IN GOOD COMPANY
Kahne has earned an average start of 12th for the 2005 season. Of the drivers who have competed in all 28 races this year, Kahne is in a three-way tie with Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson for second place.

POINTS STANDINGS
Kahne moved to the 21st position of the NASCAR Nextel Cup points standings. His points total of 2,878 is 207 out of 15th.

KAHNE AT DOVER
Last weekend, Kahne qualified second in the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger with a time of 22.919 seconds at 157.074 mph.

Kahne ran in the top five throughout the first half of the race, including a long run in the second spot, but handling problems over the final 200 circuits brought about a 16th place finish.

EVERNHAM MOTORSPORTS MILESTONES
Kahne's 2005 win at Richmond, in addition to teammate Jeremy Mayfield's victory at Michigan, marked the first time that Evernham Motorsports teammates had each won a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race in the same season.
