KYLE BUSCH, NO. 5 KELLOGG'S / CARQUEST IMPALA SS:
WHEN YOU CAME TO TAKE THE GREEN FLAG, IT LOOKED LIKE YOU DROPPED DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE RACE TRACK TO TRY TO GET A PULL OFF DJ'S CAR, DID YOU? "No. I didn't even see DJ's car out there to tell you the truth. I got through (Turns) three and four, and once I got through the center of four I turned down to try to get a run down the banking and try to build up your speed a little bit more, that's all. I was just running both laps on the bottom to see what that would give us. I'm not sure. With the old car, you run around the top on the first lap and the bottom on the second lap and just kind of keep building your speed up and everything. In the truck, that doesn't help. Your first lap is better than your second lap. I believe that these cars will be the same way as the trucks."
ON TAKING THE LOW LINE DURING QUALIFYING: "With the truck, that is the way it is because you are already up to speed, you don't have that big of restrictor plate on that thing. In these cars, I feel like it will probably be the same way. I am not sure which lap quicker, but in my truck the first lap was quicker. I don't think you are going to gain much going up high anymore with these cars compared to our old cars."
TALK ABOUT YOUR LAP. IT SEEMED LIKE YOU SLOWED DOWN QUITE A BIT FROM PRACTICE: "Oh, yeah, of course. That was in the draft. All those speeds at the top of the board were in the draft; at draft speeds. A lot of guys made some qualifying runs and stuff in qualifying trim. We never did. We're in the race; we know that. We're more worried about the 500 miles and being able to win that than we are winning (the pole) here today."
CLINT BOWYER, NO. 07 JACK DANIEL'S IMPALA SS:
ON QUALIFYING EFFORT: "It was kind of what we expected, it was decent. You knew we weren't going to set the world on fire today, but I think we will be just fine tomorrow. During practice, we were able to follow some pretty good cars up to the front, hopefully we will get out of here with the fenders on it and a good points day. It was exactly what we ran in practice, we will race good. Excited about the race, think we will be just find."
ON FINISHING THE TALLADEGA RACE AND HEADING FOR CHARLOTTE: "Well, you haven't looked at my record here, but if I can roll it on the trailer with the fenders still on it, I will be pretty ecstatic."
ON ALL TALK OF CARS GOING BACKWARDS, ETC., BEING OVERBLOWN: "Well, I sure hope so, we are fixin' to find out tomorrow."
KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 29 SHELL-PENNZOIL IMPALA SS:
ON QUALIFYING EFFORT: "It was disappointing, just have to talk with Todd (Berrier, crew chief) to work on what we have for the race. All I know right now is if we get out of the middle of pack, we are in big trouble cause our car is just dead slow."
JEFF BURTON, NO. 31 AT&T IMPALA SS:
ON HIS QUALIFYING RUN: "It is going to be an exciting race to watch. You are going to see a lot of stuff that is going to make you stand up and take notice for sure. Visibility is difficult, it is hard to see what is going on in front of you beyond the car in front of you, which you can see. The car in front of him you can't see. So, anticipating what is going to happen has become more difficult. I don't know what is going going to happen tomorrow. A lot of things could happen, but what I anticipate is a really tight race. A lot of action, a lot of excitement. It is going to get really wild. If they drop the green with 20 to go or something, I can only imagine what it is going to be like. So looking forward to it, it is going to be exciting that is for sure.
"Hoping it is a good weekend for us. We haven't had a whole lot of good things happen to this team in the Chase, but we will keep fighting and make something happen."
