GREG BIFFLE-16-National Guard/Charter Ford Fusion (Finished 41st)
WERE DRIVERS BEGINNING TO GET IMPATIENT OUT THERE? "It wasn't getting that bad. Everybody was kind of doing the same thing. Somebody up there just got four wide it looked like getting into the corner, and you run out of room so quick and somebody just made a mistake. I thought I was through and I got down on the apron and then I didn't see the 26. He was spinning and came back up in front of me. I thought the we were going to make it through with the National Guard car, but there's too much damage to try to get it back out there. We've got so much front damage and the pulleys on the engine are damaged and it knocked the oil pump belt off. Lots of damage that we won't be able to make minimum speed, so we'll have to put it in the truck."
HOW WAS THE BUMP DRAFTING TODAY? "I didn't think it was excessive. I got hit pretty hard by the 99 a couple of times, but the 17 and I were working well together, and I worked with the 8 some. Something was going to happen, I think, sooner or later because it's so smooth out there."
JAMIE MCMURRAY-26-Crown Royal Ford Fusion (Finished 37th)
WHAT HAPPENED FROM YOUR VANTAGE POINT? "I don't know. You are just kind of along for the ride whenever something like that happens. I saw the 15 go underneath the 07, and the 07 was turned around. I don't know of somebody got into him on the outside or exactly what happened. We're definitely torn up and we're going to try to patch it up and ride around as long as they'll let us."
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS OF THE RACING SURFACE? "I felt like it got rougher as the race went on. In practice, it was so smooth, and it seemed as race went on the track got a little bit rougher. But, it's still really fast and had a lot of grip. Handling was never an issue at all today. Our car had a lot of speed."
MATT KENSETH-17-DeWalt Ford Fusion (Finished 4th)
"It was a good points day. The car felt good most of the day and we were able to get out front and stay ahead of the most of the wrecks. I thought were going to have a shot at it, but we got shuffled back there and we didn't have a drafting partner to pull out of line there at the end. It felt good to get some points today and get back up there. It put us back where we can have a shot at it."
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE RACING SURFACE? "It's definitely easy to drive; it's real smooth. It's easy to drive as long as you didn't run into anybody or get run into."
WHAT DID YOU SEE FROM YOUR VANTAGE POINT ON THE LAST LAP? "I didn't see it at all. All I saw was smoke, so I have no idea how it started."
IS THIS THE BEST THAT YOU'VE FELT COMING OUT OF A CHASE RACE THIS YEAR? "Other than going into Loudon, this is the best spot that we've had,, so I feel good about. I feel good about getting us some points, and putting us back in the points. We had our we felt like the last few weeks so to have a little good and have a good car and get a good finish feels good."
MARK MARTIN-6-AAA Ford Fusion (Finished 8th)
"Pat did a great job calling the race with pit strategy and the car handled great. Heck, we were OK there. I would have liked to have been contending for the win, but we weren't fast enough to do that, so we made the most of our day. Things are going our way right now. If we can go next week and run like we have in the past at Charlotte, we'll be good."
WHAT DID YOU SEE ON THE LAST LAP? "I'm the goofiest thing. I thought the wreck was behind. I had no idea it happened in front me. You can see much with all of these cars in front of you. I thought the wreck happened behind me."
IS THIS THE BEST THAT YOU'VE FELT COMING OUT OF TALLADEGA IN RECENT YEARS? "We've sure run better than this, but we hadn't finished here in forever without wrecking. I'll take it. It was a great day for us and we're still in this hunt."
YOU ARE NOW WITHIN STRIKING DISTANCE OF THE POINT LEADS. "We needed to wait after this one to talk about it, but it's nice to be there."
DAVID GILLILAND-38-M&M's Ford Fusion (Finished 15th)
"We didn't have too many friends all day. That's OK. We leaned a lot and brought a very fast race car home in one piece. To be able to run Daytona - I'm cleared - but this is a big step just to seal the deal and let them know that I'm ready."
DID YOU FEEL YOU NEEDED TO BE CONSERVATIVE TODAY FOR THAT REASON? "Oh yeah. At the beginning there, we were very conservative and just wanted to make sure we were there at the end of the race, which a lot of guys weren't. It's a building process and we're getting better, and for my first time, I thought we did a great job."
