SADLER LOOKS TO CARRY TOP-10 MOMENTUM TO TALLADEGA
CHARLOTTE, NC (September 27, 2005) -- After scoring his first top-10 in three months at Dover, M&M'S® driver Elliott Sadler is looking to carry the momentum to this weekend's UAW-Ford 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. The sixth place finish last Sunday moved Sadler and the #38 Team back into the 11th spot in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup point standings.
It's no secret that the fall race at Talladega has been 'eventful' for Sadler during his past two outings but the mentality of the M&M'S Team is to just survive the 2.66-mile monster superspeedway. In fact a repeat of Sadler's success in May would be a start. Sadler had one of his career best weekends by qualifying third and finishing sixth. He was the top Ford on both Friday and Sunday and hopes to see himself surrounded by more of the Blue Oval contingency come race day this weekend.
Elliott Sadler on Talladega
"We're looking forward to going back to Talladega this weekend. I'm as confident about our chances at a restrictor plate race as I have been in a very long time. Whenever we go to a restrictor plate race, we know that the 24, 15 and the 8 are going to be strong. All the Chevrolets gang up together because they know they are going to be tough to beat."
"That's the same thing the Fords need to do. I think the Roush teams have made some progress and I know we've made a lot of progress at RYR. Our fab shop has done an excellent job this year. After the Daytona 500, we really looked at some things and the car we had at Talladega in the spring was one of the best I've ever driven at a Superspeedway. We're taking that car back this weekend. I had a lot of fun running that race in the spring but we just need to get the Fords up there in front with there with all the bowties."
NOTES OF INTEREST--
* On Track--Interim crew chief Kevin Buskirk has selected to bring chassis #3809 to Talladega Superspeedway for this weekend's UAW-Ford 500. Sadler has piloted chassis nine in only one prior event, the spring race at Talladega. Sadler qualified third and finished sixth in the race ranking as the top qualifying and finishing Ford for the weekend
