CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE RACE? "Our car wouldn't run on the bottom of the race track. It would run in the middle and the outside, but we needed to be on the bottom. We had to get some momentum to really get going, to get some headway. Sometimes we could get it, sometimes we didn't. This reminded me so much of IROC racing with just a lot more cars."
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE FINAL LAPS? "At the end for the green-white-checkered, it's hard with only a few cars left to really mount a charge from where we were in the field. The 66 got side-by-side with someone and I just couldn't get any help from behind. One more lap, I think we would have been able to do something. We're just glad that we came home with a top-10."
ROBBY GORDON (No. 7 MAPEI/Menards Dodge Charger) Finished 8th
"It has worked out for us this year as far as restrictor plate races go. Another top-10, that's three and an 11th in restrictor plate races. Unfortunately, we didn't have the results at the road courses like we expected. I'm happy with the guys. They're maintaining our cars really well and doing a good job at the track. I'm happy with the results. We're happy with the Penske engine. Obviously, we had good results with Gillett Evernham engines as well. Right now, we're just moving forward and trying to score as many points as we can. It was a good day for us."
ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 McDonalds MONOPOLY Dodge Charger) Finished 10th
HOW WAS YOUR CAR TODAY? "The car was OK. We brought a new car here and it handled good. It drove good. We have to work on our pulling-up ability -- horsepower -- or something. We have to have some more help. The other guys can push each other a lot faster than we can. We have to do some more work before we get to Daytona next year. I'm proud of my McDonald's guys. They brought a good car here for me. The car drove good all day."
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE LAST RESTART? "I was going for the win. I could have stayed in line and finished fourth or go for the win. I went for the win. I would have been kicking myself in the butt if I didn't go for a win for these guys. Nobody went with me and I finished 10th. It's a tough day. I'd rather finish 11th going for the win versus finishing fourth and just riding around."
WERE YOU SURPRISED THAT NOBODY WENT WITH YOU? "The 6 and 31 were coming and pushing me really hard. Everybody is pushing hard trying to get the best finish that they can. I wished that they would have gone with me. They didn't and we finished 10th."
TERRY LABONTE (No. 45 Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil Dodge Charger) Finished 17th
"Things were going good until the 83 lost that tire. That's the wreck I got in. It tore up our car and put us behind. I didn't see what happened to cause that last big wreck. It was typical Talladega. One mistake, a flat tire, something like that can collect a lot of cars. We used up the back end of the car in the early wreck, but before that it was pretty good. I was hoping we could survive, be there at the end and sneak a good finish out of it. Anyway, it was fun."
KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Finished 21st
"We dropped a cylinder. We actually led two laps and were getting pushed really well by a car with more power than us and it actually broke our engine. I've never seen that happen before."
REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger) Finished 23rd
"I'm not sure what happened. I was all the way through the wreck and somebody spun down the track and got us. It's disappointing because our Target Dodge was really good. My spotter said, 'Good job, we made it through the wreck' and then bam, I got hit. It was a wild day. We did everything we could to keep our car in one piece at the end, we just got caught up in a big one."
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Charger) Finished 25th
"I thought that we avoided the wreck and somebody went to the bottom. I thought that I was clear, then somebody wrecked the 41 and he came right into me. It was a rough day. The Texaco/Havoline Dodge was really good today. We're getting closer and closer. It's disappointing because we had a racecar that could have won the race and now we'll finish somewhere in the 30's (finished 25th)."
KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) Finished 36th
"I saw smoke first. I don't know what happened. (After being told the No. 83 had a tire issue) So that explains the smoke and that would explain the wreck. It's just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I tried to stay as far left as I could; I think (Clint) Bowyer might have been underneath me a little, so I was just trying to creep down there. Then I got hit in the back and turned me back into the field. We had a pretty good Budweiser Dodge, right in the mix all day. I think the racing was exciting, a normal Talladega. We just ended up in the big wreck."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger) Finished 43rd
"We broke a valvetrain or something in the engine and that's the end of our day. I'm not really sure exactly what happened yet. The car just shut off when I was coming into the pits. It's just bad timing. Kurt's (engine) just broke too. I'm really can't explain what happened other than something in the engine let go."
