David Gilliland, driver of the No. 38 Ford. Drive one. Ford Fusion, was collected in a practice accident while following Dale Earnhardt Jr.

FOLLOWING DALE JR. ON A RESTRICTOR PLATE TRACK IS USUALLY A GOOD THING, BUT NOT AT THAT MOMENT. "We had our Drive one Ford Fusion driving really good. We made some changes because we were really unhappy with it in the first practice session, so we made some changes there and it was driving great. It had a lot of speed, so I think we learned a lot that we can transfer into our backup car. It's just an unfortunate incident. Junior blew a right-rear tire. In the middle of the corner the thing just came apart. There was nothing he could do and there was nothing I could do. It was just kind of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's funny, my crew chief and I were just talking about where you wanted to be in the race. Everybody says either up front or in the back. Well, we were in the front there and got taken out, so it's just one of those deals. Our backup car is good and we'll shift our focus on to that and get it driving as good as we can."
