Casey Mears and No. 41 Target/BCRF Dodge
Target Team Facts:
* Think Pink: In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Target, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) and Casey Mears will team up once again to promote breast cancer awareness to racing fans across the country. The No. 41 Target Dodge will sport a special pink paint scheme for the second year in a row that will carry the logo of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Mears will take the helm of the pink Dodge Charger for five NASCAR NEXTEL Cup races in October: Talladega Superspeedway (October 2), Kansas Speedway (October 9), Lowe's Motor Speedway (October 15), Martinsville Speedway (October 23) and Atlanta Motor Speedway (October 30).
* Standings: Casey Mears and the Target team hold on to the 25th spot in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup standings after their 10th-place finish at Dover International Speedway last weekend.
* Drafting at 'Dega: Mears has five NEXTEL Cup starts at the 2.66-mile superspeedway. He has two top-10 finishes and two top-10 starts. Mears was one of 25 drivers that got caught up in a multi-car incident that red flagged the race this past May. However, the crafty Target Team was able to repair the heavily damaged No. 41 Dodge and salvage a top-15 finish in the Aaron's 499.
* Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target Team will be taking chassis #210 to Talladega for the final restrictor plate race of the 2005 season. Chassis #210 has been the back-up Superspeedway car this season, but was run in the Shootout at Daytona in February. The team also ran this chassis four times last season.
Casey Mears Quote:
On Talladega... "We've been fast at Talladega in the past," said Mears. "These races can be fun if you have a fast car that works well in the draft, if not, it makes for a long and frustrating race. I know we can run well, we just need to stay out of trouble.
"It would be great to run up front in the pink Target Dodge. It feels good knowing I have the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives and help the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. I was touched by all the stories that fans shared with me last year, and it is an honor to be part of Target's initiative again to raise awareness and money for a foundation that will ultimately save lives."
