Best Start of the Year -- the #00 Domino's "Brooklyn Style" Pizza Toyota to Roll Off 14th at Talladega
Talladega, AL - David Reutimann, driver of the #00 Domino's Pizza Toyota in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series for Michael Waltrip Racing, qualified 14th for the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Super Speedway. David posted the fourth fastest speed of the non-point teams, which was good enough to put the #00 Domino's "Brooklyn Style" Pizza Toyota in the field on Sunday. The 14th place qualifying effort was the highest of the season for the #00 Domino's Pizza team. Unfortunately, for the third time this NASCAR NEXTEL Cup season David's qualifying effort knocked his teammate and car owner Michael Waltrip out of the field for Sunday's race.
"It's a tough situation knowing that either you or your car owner/teammate will be going home, but I know he understands and is proud of me going out there and driving as fast as I can. I mean, we both had good laps -- good enough to be in the show," said David Reutimann.
The #00 Domino's "Brooklyn Style" Pizza team only worked on single car runs in anticipation of Bud Pole Qualifying yesterday, so the team will now have to get the car ready to race in a pack of 43 on Sunday. "We only worked on single car runs yesterday during practice, so we are really unsure of how the car will work in the draft," said David about the #00 Domino's "Brooklyn Style" Toyota. "Still, I'm extremely happy for my sponsor Domino's Pizza - that I will be able to race the Brooklyn Style paint scheme tomorrow.
