Stewart uninjured in wreck during Goodyear tire test at Indianapolis - photo

'Smoke' escaped an accident during the Goodyear tire test earlier today unscathed.

Tony Stewart, who is less than a year removed from a sprint car crash that left him with a broken leg, has walked away from a scary incident at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier today.

After what appeared to be a right-front tire failure, the three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion emerged from the wrecked race car under his own power. Ryan Newman, Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Joey Logano and Kyle Busch were also present for the test.

Indiana native Tony Stewart will head to the 'The Brickyard' later this month in pursuit of his third Sprint Cup win there. Below is a photo of the wrecked No. 14 Chevy SS, which was originally taken by Stewart-Haas Racing engineer Chris Chidgey.
