"It was a good lap. In practice, we worked on qualifying trim and ended the session a little bit early because we'd gone through our tires and a bunch of guys posted quick times and we fell down to 11th. And it was a little frustrating that we were in 11th but I knew that I could do a little bit more in a couple of areas to improve. With some small adjustments to the car we went out and nailed a good lap and came in 2nd."
YOU SAID EARLIER THAT TO AVOID SOME OF THE CRAZINESS THAT HAPPENS IN THIS RACE THAT YOU WANTED TO PUT THAT CAR AS FAR FORWARD AS POSSIBLE. LOOKS LIKE YOU SUCCEEDED IN DOING THAT.
"Yeah, I think so. But the way I look at it, I have until the first round of pit stops. You've got to stay on the road and all that, but it's amazing. We've been in the past, pitted one lap too soon to when cautions have fallen. And we go from running in that front group to mid-pack or worse. And that's the key. So there are many pieces to the puzzle. The first piece we've done well and have good track position. I don't think the pit road pick is going to make that big of a difference. Now we just need to make sure we pit on the right lap. There are two pit stops and if you miss it by a lap and a caution comes out, you go from the front to the back and we'll have to hopefully dodge that."
