Notes: This is the first time Goodyear has brought this specific combination of tires to Infineon Raceway. . . teams ran the same tire code on all four tire positions at Infineon in 2003, while they will run different codes on the front and rear at the track in 2004 . . . Nextel Cup teams will also run this same combination at the series' other road course at Watkins Glen later this season . . . while this left-side code is unique to the series' to road courses, Cup teams ran this front tire (D-6836) on the right side at Martinsville earlier this season . . . as on both NASCAR road courses, teams will not run inner liners in their tires at Infineon.

Goodyear Quote - Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "In preparation for the 2004 season, we tested this tire combination at Watkins Glen in 2003. Last year we ran the same tire code in all four tire positions on the road courses, but we decided to make a change for 2004. This year, we will bring a softer rear construction to help the cars with rear bite. We also softened up the compounds for this season, which will help with overall grip as well. The track operators at Infineon repaved some of the corners since last year's race, so we expect that, along with this new tire set-up, will cause speeds to increase this weekend."
