ROUSH RACING QUOTES OF THE WEEK
Week of June 22, 2005
TOPIC: This Sunday, June 26, the NASCAR Nextel Cup circuit will be running their first road course of the 2005 season. We asked the Roush Racing drivers for their thoughts on road racing--
Mark Martin/No. 6 Viagra Ford Taurus:
"I've always liked road course racing. It reminds me of where I learned to drive back on the dirt roads of Arkansas. Except today the cars are a lot faster and the competition is the best in the world, so we are looking forward to going out to Sonoma this weekend."
Greg Biffle/No. 16 National Guard Ford Taurus:
"I like the road courses, they break up the season a little. We've done some testing for Sonoma and I think we'll be ready for it. I haven't had my best finishes at road courses but I love the racing and I enjoy the challenge. I'd like to come out of Sonoma this weekend with a solid top-10 finish."
Matt Kenseth/No. 17 DEWALT Ford Taurus:
"Our road course program has improved over the last couple of years. We have made it a point to go to places like Road Atlanta and VIR to get in some practice on road courses and I think it has helped. Also, not coming from that kind of racing background, getting a few races under our belts has helped, as well."
Kurt Busch/No. 97 Sharpie/Irwin Ford Taurus:
"It's unfortunate that there isn't a road course event during the final 10 races during the "Chase", so the emphasis on road course events isn't as great as it needs to be. Needless to say, I really enjoy the road course races. Infineon Raceway is where I had my big break into NASCAR when I was running there in 1999 in the Featherlite Southwest Series. So I'm looking forward to going back and handling those right hand turns."
Carl Edwards/No. 99 Office Depot Ford Taurus/No. 60 Charter Ford Taurus
"I'm really excited to go to Sonoma. We tested there a few weeks back and I really like the track a lot. I've only raced one other time on a road course and that was at Mexico City back in February in the Busch car. We finished third there and I had a blast. I've been watching lots of video and racing on my computer game so that coupled with the test and the advise I've received from my teammates and guys like Boris Said should give us a little bit of a head start this weekend."
