ROUSH RACING QUOTES OF THE WEEK
Week of June 6, 2005
TOPIC: We are halfway through the Nextel Cup Series "regular season" and so with that in mind, we asked the Roush drivers to review their season thus far. Here is what they had to say:
Mark Martin/No. 6 Viagra Ford Taurus:
"Well I'm really happy with the way that this Viagra Team has performed. Pat Tryson and the whole team have done an outstanding job. We need to get come consistent finishes, but we've gotten caught up in some really stupid wrecks and that has hurt us a good bit. Still, we've had good cars and we have a win under our belt at the All-Star. We are sitting at sixth in the points, despite some of wrecks ans stuff and I think we have a strong team than can contend to make the chase and who knows, maybe win this thing."
Greg Biffle/No. 16 National Guard Ford Taurus:
"Obviously it's been an incredible year for the National Guard team so far. We've got four wins under our belts and I feel good about our chances to go to victory lane a couple more times before the Chase. Everything really started to come together about halfway through last season and we've just been able to pick up where we left off at Homestead. I can't say enough about this crew and I'm just excited to go to the track every week with these guys, knowing that we're going to be competitive every time we show up."
Matt Kenseth/No. 17 DeWalt Ford Taurus:
"Obviously, our season has not gone very well so far, whether because of our cars not running well or just bad luck. At this point, we just have to focus on finishing in the top-ten every week to make it into the Chase. We tried some new things with our cars the early part of this season and we've just recently reverted back to some of our old ways, which I think is working for us. We just have to be consistent and hopefully have a little luck come our way to be in that top-ten when it counts."
Kurt Busch/No. 97 Sharpie/Irwin Ford Taurus:
"We're not necessarily in the position we need to be in at this point in the season as far as the points go. It seems like we've had a couple of wins slip through our fingers, and we've had a lot of trouble not of our own doing out on the racetrack. We've had terrific cars, and we're still eighth in points, we've just got to put it all together for a strong run to the 'Chase.'"
Carl Edwards/No. 99 Stonebridge Insurance Ford Taurus:
"I'm learning a lot as a driver. Even on our mediocre days like this past weekend in Dover, I'm getting better and better. I'm getting used to the pace of the races and I feel more comfortable with each lap around the track. I'm looking forward to the rest of the year."
