GREG BIFFLE - No. 16 Grainger Taurus (Qualified 10th)

"I think the track has cooled down a lot and it's got a lot of grip right now - a lot more than it had when we started racing here, which is kind of weird for this track. The Grainger car didn't pick up as much as I wanted it to. It stuck really good down there in one and two and I just didn't get after the gas as quick as I needed to. I wasn't sure it was gonna stick as good as it did. It makes me happy. I think we've got a pretty good car for Sunday. We'll find out tomorrow afternoon. I just wish I would have qualified a little bit better. I don't know where that's gonna put me when it's all over."

WHAT ABOUT YOUR PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR? "We're gonna be back in the 16 and we're gonna be running a lot of Busch races next year with Roush, so we're looking forward to that. We're trying to get our program headed in the right direction in both of those classes, so I'm excited about next year and we'll see what we can do."

DALE JARRETT - No. 88 UPS Taurus (Qualified 32nd)

"We've been tight through the center and loose off, which is probably a product of being tight in the center. We just kept working and we made a pretty big change there and the car was a lot better. I wish we would have done that earlier and then we might have been able to make another adjustment, but I was just a tick loose off the corner. The car turned finally and went through the center better. That's the fastest that we've run, it just wasn't fast enough."

TODD BODINE - No. 54 National Guard Taurus (Qualified 27th)

YOU WERE THIRD-FASTEST IN PRACTICE. WHAT HAPPENED? "The inconsistency of tires. We unloaded really good. We made some minor adjustments and went right back to where we unloaded. We put the stickers on and it was terribly loose in practice. So we made some very minute adjustments in tire pressure for qualifying and put another set of stickers on it and it pushed so bad it was ridiculous. It's just inconsistency in the tires."

JEFF BURTON - No. 99 CITGO Taurus (Qualified 9th)

"These guys just did a great job on the car. They really sat down and talked about the troubles we were having in practice and it was all these guys. They work really hard every week. I'm not the best qualifier in the world and when we do good it's because of them."

WHAT ARE YOUR REALISTIC GOALS FOR THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT? "Our realistic goals are that we want to win Sunday. We know we can run well at Rockingham. We want to come here and win. We think we have as good a chance as anybody. Homestead is a crapshoot for everybody. We can get in the top-10 in points and that's our goal. We've come here to win and then we'll go to Homestead and hopefully adjust better than everybody else and have a chance to win there and finish in the top 10 in points."

MARK MARTIN - No. 6 Viagra Taurus (Qualified 12th)

"I had a tad better car than that. I gave them a nine in qualifying, instead of a 10. I gave them a 10 last week when I went from 25th to 12th, but this week I didn't get anything extra for them. I got most of what was there, but I would have liked to have given them just a little bit better run than that. It was no-mistake run with a good car. I knew I had a good car. Sometimes when you don't think you've got a good car you take a few extra chances and I really didn't have to take chances today. We had a top-10 car in practice and it felt good. We're gonna have another good weekend. I was happy with last weekend and this one is gonna be good, too."

MATT KENSETH - No. 17 DEWALT Power Tools Taurus (Qualified 23rd)

"I guess compared to where we've been qualifying that's really great. That should get us in the top 25. My lap was pretty good. If I would have hit it exactly perfect I may have been able to run about a half-tenth quicker and that wouldn't have gotten us up the board that much further, so I'm pretty happy with it."

TWO RACES TO GO. HAVE THE LATTER STAGES BEEN STRESSFUL OR HAVE YOU ENJOYED IT? "A little bit of both. I'd be more stressed out I guess if I was behind and trying to chip away all the time at it, but I feel good about where we're at and what we've got to accomplish. There are still two races to go, so we need to get through these two races and I'm looking forward to getting to the end of the year."

CAN THIS CAR WIN SUNDAY? "I hope so. This is a brand new car this spring that the DEWALT guys built and I think we ran third in the spring and had a great car. I'm looking forward to the race on Sunday. Hopefully, we'll be able to run up front. It would be nice to win a race before this year is over, too."

KURT BUSCH - No. 97 Rubbermaid Taurus (Qualified 19th)

"We just haven't been able to get the car to turn like it normally does here. I really enjoy coming to Rockingham. In qualifying we're usually rock steady - like a ninth to 12th-place car in the past, but we just didn't get it to turn quite as well as it needed to so we were just tight all the way through. It's no biggie. We're better in race trim."

RICKY RUDD - No. 21 Motorcraft Taurus (Qualified 24th)

"Things went pretty smooth. To me, we're a lot closer than we have been in recent weeks but it's not an overnight fix. It's more of like starting a rebuilding process. The best thing Ben (Leslie) can bring to the table is we've been behind in engineering resources and they've got the whole Roush engineering camp over there. Ben knows what's available and what's not available, so areas where we're weak on, we can pull from that. This is sort of a start."

HOW WAS THE LAP? "Decent, solid. It's one of those deals where if you were just a tenth better you'd be starting in the top 10 somewhere. Instead, we're 24th, but I think we're gonna be good. I think this car is really racy. It feels good."

ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Taurus (Qualified 15th)

"That's not too bad. It's not as fast as we wanted to be, but that's a lot better that what we were in practice. The track changed a little bit on us, but 14th is good. For the way we struggled with it this morning that's not too bad. We'll try to put a good race setup in it. We were very good here in the spring, so we'll go a little bit off of that and see what happens."
