RIGGS FINISHES 26TH IN RICHMOND

RICHMOND, Va. (May 14, 2005)-- Scott Riggs finished 26th in Saturday night's American Revolution 400 here at Richmond International Raceway.

"I messed up in qualifying yesterday and that put us behind before the green flag fell," said Riggs, who started the 400-lap event 36th. "The car wasn't right at the beginning of the race and we fell a couple of laps down. But the Valvoline team did a good job fixing up the AroMetrics Chevrolet and eventually we found ourselves back on the the lead lap. We were making big strides forward when we had our brake problem."

With less than 50 laps remaining, Riggs had piloted the specially-designed AroMetrics Chevrolet to the 17th position before calling into his crew that his brakes were going away.

"It seemed like I really had to drive the car into the corners hard and be on the brakes to make the AroMetrics Chevy turn," explained Riggs. "Other guys weren't having to charge that hard and with about 50 laps to go we lost the brakes and that was pretty much the end of our night.

"We fought at it all night long and just never got the balance right. The team worked hard all evening and did a good job trying to make it better. They performed some great stops in the pits and I just hate that we don't have anything better to show for it."

The next event for the Valvoline race team will be the Nextel All-Star Open Saturday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte. The next points race will also be at Lowe's -- the May 29th Coca-Cola 600.
