How happy are you to capture today's pole position?

"It's nice to sit on a pole every once in a while. I only get the opportunity maybe once a year if lucky. Great effort by the team. Guys did an awesome job. This M&M's Camry was nice once we unloaded. Dave (Rogers, crew chief) has done a good job this year. Thank him for working all the hours and hard work that he does. Of course, the whole rest of the team as well. They've done a lot to come here. Richmond is one of my best race tracks for some reason. Maybe not one of my favorites, but definitely one of my best. We hope that tomorrow night we can prevail and try to get Dave (Rogers) his first win as well as a Cup crew chief."

What are your favorite race tracks?

"I love Charlotte. Charlotte is my most favorite track, I guess. Bristol is another one. Chicago is another one and (Las) Vegas is another one. Those are my top-four. I would say that Richmond is probably fifth on the list. I really run well here. I like coming here. It's definitely a neat race track and it's a challenging race track. It makes it hard on everything -- the brakes, the drivers, the pit crews with the noise and everything. Really, it's a fun and exciting race track. For me, something fits, something works here for me to run well. Qualifying up front today, my first pole at this track, that means something and of course, hopefully we can get Dave (Rogers, crew chief) his first win tomorrow night here."

How have you been able to qualifying up front in both races?

"That's what I'm supposed to do. That's the plan, anyway. Great job by the whole M&M's Camry team. These guys do a great job every week. Dave (Rogers, crew chief) is getting a lot better. These guys keep it going. I gotta do my part on the race track. I was a little worried, the first lap didn't come in quite the way I wanted it to, but the second lap, it really got going. I'm proud of these guys. Hopefully it will stick. If not, it will be a good spot."

How is your car here at Richmond?

"It's not bad. We're decent. I'd like to be a tad better. We ended up first in qualifying trim and we made a change and didn't go nearly as fast. Hopefully, we can find that balance tonight and I can hit my line exactly right to try get a good qualifying lap and try to get a pole. For the guys, they've done a really nice job this weekend. Dave (Rogers, crew chief), has done a good job and the M&M's Camry is fast.

How close are you to winning a race this year and how bad do you want to win?

"You want to win every race. I feel like we are getting closer and closer to winning every week but I don't know how far away we are. We've had some opportunities where we should've won races. We've also had opportunities where we should've run 15th or 18th and we finished top-10. It seems to be paying itself off this year a lot more than it has in the past. We just keep working every week on what we know what to do and try to make the cars better."

Do you enjoy racing at Richmond?

"I love coming to Richmond. For some reason, it just fits. I'm successful here. Whatever that is, hopefully I can keep it going." Do you anticipate a 'green-white-checkered' finish this weekend?

"It seems like NASCAR likes throwing cautions towards the end of the race to get everybody bunched up to make a shootout. We'll pretty much expect the same thing here this weekend."
