Consistency Issues Drop Nemechek to 33rd-Place Result in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (May 6, 2007) -- Joe Nemechek said his car was "hot and cold" in Sunday's Nextel Cup race at Richmond International Raceway. And when he scraped the wall late in the 300-mile event, his No. 13 CertainTeed Chevrolet got even colder as the veteran driver struggled to bring home a 33rd-place finish.

"We didn't have the consistency today," offered Nemechek, a former winner at Richmond. "We had some good runs, but then we also had handling issues. We never could get it going. And when I hit the wall that pretty much killed our chances of getting back on the lead lap."

This was Nemechek's third race with the Car of Tomorrow (he did not qualify at the Bristol event) and the Ginn Racing driver feels the team is making progress with the COT, despite Sunday's performance.

"We didn't nail it this weekend, but we see signs of improvement with our COT program," noted Nemechek. "The new car is a work in progress and we're putting everything we have into it."

The next race with the COT is Saturday night at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway. "I like Darlington and am looking forward to getting back to where we should be," said Nemechek as he departed the Richmond facility.
