RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY TO HOST "ONE LAST RACE TO MAKE THE CHASE" FOR EIGHTH CONSECUTIVE SEASON
America's Premier Short Track will again host two NASCAR Doubleheader Weekends: April 29-30 and September 9-10, 2011
Richmond, VA (August 16, 2010)--Richmond International Raceway officials are proud to announce America's Premier Short Track will once again host two doubleheader weekends, including the Spring season opener, as well as "One Last Race to Make The Chase" in September. And for the eighth consecutive year, the September NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race -- scheduled for Saturday, September 10 -- will set the field for next year's Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
In addition to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races scheduled for Saturday, April 30 and Saturday, September 10, the NASCAR Nationwide Series will also return to Richmond International Raceway in 2011, on Friday, April 29 and Friday, September 9.
"Thanks to our fans loyal support, we are thrilled to announce that we will host two doubleheader weekends again in 2011, including our April season opener and the September 'One Last Race to Make The Chase' for the eighth consecutive season," said track president Doug Fritz. By hosting the prestigious 26th race again in 2011, America's Premier Short Track further maintains its position as one of the best motorsports facilities in the world. Additionally, we are excited to again host the NASCAR Nationwide Series on April 29 and September 9."
NASCAR will make its 2011 debut at Richmond International Raceway on Friday, April 29 when the NASCAR Nationwide Series runs "under the lights" and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series runs the Crown Royal Presents The Your Name Here 400 on Saturday, April 30. Both series will return to Richmond International Raceway for the September 9-10 NASCAR Doubleheader weekend highlighted by "One Last Race to Make The Chase."
Tickets for the April NASCAR Doubleheader weekend at Richmond International Raceway will go on sale to the general public in January 2011. Existing ticket holders should keep an eye on their mailboxes in early October for renewal notices.
