2007 NASCAR Schedule at Richmond is Set
Will Host 26th Race of Season for Fourth Straight Year

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (August 24, 2006) --The 2007 NASCAR schedule at Richmond International Raceway will again feature two NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races, including an unprecedented NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race named after a fan on Saturday, May 5 and the prestigious 26th race of the season on Saturday, September 8.

The May race is tentatively called the "Crown Royal presents Your Name Here 400." During Speedweeks 2007 at Daytona International Speedway, race sponsor Crown Royal will announce the winner of a unique and innovative contest- the race will be named after a fan.

Then in September, the sporting world will again turn its attention to Richmond International Raceway as the ¾-mile track will again host the Chevy Rock & Roll 400, the final race that sets the field for the 2007 Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup. Next season will mark the fourth straight year Richmond International Raceway will host the last race before the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup begins.

Although only the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series schedule was formally announced today, Richmond International Raceway president Doug Fritz confirmed that the NASCAR Busch Series will serve as companion races on Friday night of both weekends. FUNAI is set to return to sponsor the race on Friday, May 4 while track officials are in negotiations with several different potential sponsors for the September 7 NASCAR Busch Series event, including this year's sponsor, Emerson Radio.

"I am very pleased to announce that we will host two NASCAR doubleheader weekends each featuring the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and NASCAR Busch Series in 2007," said Fritz. "Next season will be one of our most exciting seasons ever and I'm especially looking forward to the opening of our new Commonwealth Tower Grandstand that will add nearly 5,000 seats to our capacity."

This year's Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race on Saturday night, September 9 is will be the 30th consecutive series sellout at Richmond International Raceway. Fans still have the opportunity to catch many NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series drivers in the always-exciting NASCAR Busch Series Emerson Radio 250, set for Friday, September 8 "under the lights." Chesterfield, Virginia's own Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, defending race winner Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Jamie McMurray, Clint Bowyer, J.J. Yeley and Reed Sorenson are among the list of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series regulars who plan to enter the Emerson Radio 250.

Tickets for that day will also include Fas Mart Pole Qualifying for the Chevy Rock & Roll 400. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.rir.com or by calling 1-866-455-RACE (7223). Reserved seats are $45 in advance and $50 the day of the race. General admission seating is $35 in advance and $40 the day of the race. Children 12 and under are admitted free in general admission seating with a ticketed adult Friday night.
