CHARLOTTE, NC (September 4, 2008) - Robby Gordon's Jim Beam Dodge will unveil a special red, white and blue paint scheme under the lights at Richmond International Raceway this weekend; Gordon's No. 7 will carry Operation Homefront decals to help Jim Beam raise awareness for the deserving charity. Jim Beam formed an association the organization with earlier this year when they recognized that Operation Homefront had the same commitment and values as the Jim Beam brand - true character, integrity and doing the right thing.
To further raise awareness for this charity, Gordon will go to Fort Lee, VA, Thursday, September 4th to visit soldiers assigned to the Warrior in Transition Unit (WTU). While Gordon is at Fort Lee, he will join Rusty Wallace in filming an episode of NASCAR Angels, which will salute an inspiring, combat-wounded soldier with a car make-over.
Operation Homefront - Operation Homefront is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance and morale to our troops, to the families they leave behind during deployments and wounded warriors when they return home. Operation Homefront has 30 chapters serving 37 states and came to the rescue of 33,000 military families last year. They have approximately 4,500 volunteers nationwide. Remarks on Richmond - "Richmond always has great side-by-side racing," Gordon stated. "Just like any short track though, the key is to start up front and stay up there. I am honored to have Operation Homefront on the car this weekend to help bring awareness to a great cause, especially with the anniversary of September 11th coming up."
Rock-n-Roll 400 - This race marks Gordon's 20th appearance at Richmond with two Nationwide Series and 17 Sprint Cup Series starts at the ¾-mile D-shaped oval. In September 2004, Gordon captured his first Nationwide Series win in his own No. 55 at RIR.
Appearances -Gordon will be at his souvenir trailer on Saturday signing autographs for his fans at 3:45 p.m.
