Paul Menard on Richmond: "We started off a little behind the eight ball when the race started the first time around at Richmond this year, but Slugger made some good calls with adjustments to our Ford Fusion and around the middle of the race, the car was a lot better and we really had something to work with. As a team, we've spent some time working on our flat-track program recently and we know we've got some good notes to work off of and a good game plan heading into the weekend. I'm looking forward to this race. It'll be a fun race in front of a packed house and that's always good for the fans and the sport alike."
Crew Chief Slugger Labbe's Thoughts on Richmond International Raceway: "I would say Richmond isn't our best track and it's been somewhat of a challenge for us. Last time at Richmond with about 20 laps to go we pitted under green when we were running 12th and we got stuck with a pit road penalty. We had to come back in and pit under green and we ended up not finishing where we should have. We were definitely in for a good finish before that penalty.
"We're going back completely different than where we were in the spring. We've learned a lot since then. Our flat-track package has really not been where we wanted it this year. Some of the Ford teams are going to Milwaukee and Gresham (S.C.) to test, so we are hopeful we'll have some good information to work from. That being said, we're definitely putting a lot of emphasis on our short track program to get that better. We ran decently in New Hampshire in practice and qualified well there so we'll kind of build off of some of things we did there. We're working hard on our flat track package though so hopefully the changes we make will be better when we get to Richmond."
Chassis History: Crew chief Slugger Labbe and the No. 98 RPM crew have prepared chassis No. 693 for this weekend's event. This is the same car the team ran at Indianapolis. Menard drove to a 14th-place finish in that event.
Notes: Menard continues to compete in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series events. He currently holds down the fifth spot in the Nationwide driver point standings after 26 races. The Eau Claire, Wis.-native will once again be behind the wheel of the No. 98 Ford for this weekend's Nationwide Series event at Richmond International Raceway.
