SADLER LOOKS TO SCORE FIRST TOP-10 AT RIR

CHARLOTTE, NC (May 10, 2005) -- M&M'S® driver Elliott Sadler is proud to call Virginia home. Unlike other NEXTEL Cup drivers who have moved their residences to North Carolina, Sadler is still one of 5,700 currently living in the town where he was born and raised. Emporia, Virginia sits just seventy miles south of the Richmond International Raceway (RIR), the site of this weekend's Chevy American Revolution 400.

But as far as homecomings are concerned, visiting RIR hasn't been very sweet for Sadler. In fact, the .75-mile facility is one of only two tracks on the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup schedule were he has yet to score a top-10 finish (second is Watkins Glen). In looking at Sadler's stats this season, it appears this trip home is the one to change his direction.

So far in 2005, Sadler has been a standout on the short tracks posting the most points earned by any driver at 313 (five more than J. Gordon). He also is tied for the most poles (1 with S. Riggs) and for top-10 finishes (2 with J. Johnson). As a result of strength on the short tracks, Sadler is currently fifth in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup point standings.

Quoting M&M'S® Driver Elliott Sadler:

"Richmond is my home track, there and Martinsville. I have been going to races at Richmond as a fan my whole life since it so close to Emporia. Winning races is awesome but to win at home in front of all of our Virginia fans would be amazing. There is a lot of pressure to do well at home because you want to put on a good show, but you have to force yourself to try and look at it as just another race. We've got our job to do each weekend no matter if we are in Virginia or California, so in that way it is really no different than any other weekend."

"I've had some bad luck at this track but I think we've really worked on short track program for this season. We had two great runs earlier in the year at Bristol and Martinsville. Todd did an amazing job in those races with pit strategy, so we're looking to take that momentum and carry it to Richmond this weekend."

Quoting M&M'S® Crew Chief Todd Parrott:

"As for the track at RIR, I absolutely love this place. We've had our share of success at the track when I was with Dale Jarrett and before that when I worked with Rusty Wallace. It's a track that Elliott has struggled on. We had his two best finishes there last year with the highest being 12th. I just need to act as his cheerleader and help build his confidence at this place because he hasn't run well. We had some good short track runs earlier this year so we just need to carry those over to this weekend at Richmond."
