PATRICK CARPENTIER (No. 10 LifeLock Dodge Charger) Qualified 4th
"The car was really good. The car was really hooked up. I was really happy about it. At Phoenix, I was really pushing hard and missed a couple of corners and didn't end up as well. I never expected that we were going to end up fourth today. For the first time, I won't see the leaders coming by me so quickly (laughs). It's tough being with these guys up there. Hopefully we'll be able to stay there (near the front) for a while during the race and enjoy it a little bit. Today the guys did a great job. LifeLock is in the race once again. Hopefully we'll get a bit more points. We got behind last week at Talladega -- lost some points -- hopefully we'll catch up and get some more points and get that car in the top 35."
REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger) Qualified 5th
"We're real happy to run a .41 (21.476) in qualifying. The guys on the Target Dodge gave me a real good car right off the truck. The track may get a little quicker in the session, but the .41 was the best lap that we could run at the time. I think that we have a real strong car for the long run tomorrow."
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Charger) Qualified 6th
"I messed up on the second lap otherwise we maybe had a shot at the pole. Everybody at Chip Ganassi did a great job getting all of our cars ready for today. I'm happy. I'm actually surprised that our run wasn't a little quicker. We're good. I think we'll be OK. If we can get the car to work better on exit, we'll be able to run the bottom groove and keep the car down on the race track. It's a long race. The track will change all night. You just have to find the line that works best for your car."
ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Stanley Tools Dodge Charger) Qualified 8th
"I think that seventh (qualifying) position is a pretty good starting spot for our Stanley Tools Dodge Charger. The car was a little tight and I'm not the greatest qualifier here, so I'll take whatever I can get. The guys did a great job preparing the car and that gives us a lot of confidence going into the race tomorrow. We brought the same car we raced earlier this year in Phoenix which was a real fast car."
KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) Qualified 9th
"The run was pretty good. I had to wait a little bit through the center of the corner. I didn't carry enough speed to get down the straightaway. It just a tad too tight in the center, but other than that I like our Budweiser Dodge Charger."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger) Qualified 10th
"We tried to make some improvements from practice and that seemed to help a little bit. The track got a little quicker than we expected and that may have thrown us off a bit. I like my Alltel Dodge Charger heading into race day and think we have a shot at a win tomorrow. It's a night race, anything can happen. If we can work down on the bottom of the race track, we'll have a real competitive race car."
KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Qualified 21st
"We picked up some speed from practice and made some good adjustments. The car is still a little on the tight side. By going out late, that might have helped us a position or two. Most of our focus in practice was on our race setup. We were a little tight in qualifying and we were a little tight in race trim. We just need to free it up a little more."
ROBBY GORDON (No. 7 Charter Communications Dodge Charger) Qualified 38th
"We worked on our race setup today. I don't know where our qualifying ends up, but we need a good run tomorrow night." (Gordon has a new crew chief -- Walt Giles. He has been with the team for a couple of weeks.)
KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Paralyzed Veterans of America) Qualified 42nd
"I didn't' know what to expect. We hadn't been good in practice. We've haven't been as good as what we thought we were and then when Bobby (Labonte) didn't run fast, I didn't know what to expect."
