Dale Earnhardt Jr. - driver, No. 8 Budweiser team:

"Richmond is one of my favorite tracks, and I'm pretty anxious to get there. Having an off-weekend for Mother's Day was nice ... it's always fun to hang out with my mom and my family. It's time to go racing again. I've always liked Richmond, because you can run side-by-side there, and for me that's all I need to be a happy dude. They resurfaced the place, and sometimes that means one-groove racing, but I hear it should be a wide groove by the time we start the race Saturday night."

On night-racing:

"Night-racing is awesome. It's like that Kenny Chesney song ... Everything is hotter when the sun goes down. That's kind of the way I feel, whether it's racing, drinking a beer, hanging out with friends. Racing at night is just more fun, I think for the fans as much as the drivers. We won here (in 2000) at night, and it seems like we've always been good when the lights are on." (see note below)

-- In nine races at Richmond, Dale Jr. has scored one win (May 2000), four top 5s (two in the last three races at RIR) and six top 10s. He also has led 118 laps around the .750-mile oval ... His Richmond victory in 2000 was the second of his rookie campaign and came in only his 16th start. He shares the record with Davey Allison and Jimmie Johnson for quickest multiple victories in Nextel Cup history.

-- At tracks less than one mile in length, Dale Jr. and the No. 8 Budweiser team have nine top-fives in the last 15 Nextel Cup races ... Last year Dale Jr. scored more points on short tracks than any other driver (880 points).

-- Dale Jr. leads the NEXTEL Cup point standings by 25 points over Jimmie Johnson. Behind the strength of two wins and six top-five finishes (both series bests), Junior has been the point leader for five weeks this season.

-- Dale Jr. has led laps in seven of the 10 races in 2004 ... He also has posted eight top-10 starts, more than any driver.

-- The Bud team's love for night racing is evident with the following four wins coming under the lights: Richmond (May 2000), The Winston all-star race at Charlotte (May 2000), the Pepsi 400 at Daytona (July 2001) and the Budweiser Shootout at Daytona (2003).

-- Dale Jr. has three additional wins at Richmond in the Busch Series, most recently in 2002 when he debuted his Chance2 team and earned his first victory as a team owner. Since then, Dale Jr's Chance2 team has notched six more victories, four with him driving and two with Busch Series rookie Martin Truex Jr.
