Richard Childress, owner of six-time championship winning NASCAR Sprint Cup team RCR, has been elected the Second Vice-President of the National Rifle Association. The announcement was made during the NRA's annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee.

"Childress has already been a two-term member of the NRA Board of Directors and also serves as the Chairman of the Hunting and Wildlife Conservation Committee for the organization," a statement from RCR read. "He has held that position since 2010."

"His two-year term is effectively immediately. Childress served six years on the Board of Directors of the Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation and remains as an Honorary Board Member. He is also currently on the Board of the Boone & Crockett Club and is a member of the newly-formed Blue Ribbon Panel for Wildlife Conservation."
