HARRISBURG, NC (July 30, 1999) Tyler Jet Motorsports team owner Tim Beverley announced today that driver Rich Bickle has agreed to a multi-year agreement with the NASCAR Winston Cup organization. "I am very proud to say Rich has agreed to drive for our team for the next two seasons," said Beverley, whose team fields the 10-10-345 Pontiac for Bickle on the Winston Cup tour. "Rich has proven himself very capable in the drivers seat as well as in the marketing and public relations areas. Richs contract, along with the recent three-year contracts signed by crew chief James Ince and engine builder Claude Queen, shows Tyler Jet Motorsports is committed to moving up the Winston Cup ladder." "To say Im thrilled to be staying at Tyler Jet Motorsports is an understatement," said Bickle. "I first broke into Winston Cup in 1989 and my career has been kind of a roller coaster ride ever since. Driving the 10-10-345 Pontiac is easily the best opportunity I have ever had in my Winston Cup career and agreeing with Tim to a new deal is a real confidence booster. I think it also sends a signal to the racing and marketing communities that this is a stable organization and a good one to do business with. Considering all the sponsors and drivers jumping around these days, I think the stability factor is pretty important." Beverley debuted Tyler Jet Motorsports at the 1998 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Darrell Waltrip behind the wheel. This year, Bickle took over the driving chores with new sponsor, 10-10-345, also coming on board. While the first-year team struggled early in the season, the last 10 events have seen the #45 Pontiac jump 15 spots in the owners points from 42nd to 27th. Included in that run was a season-best seventh-place effort in the last race on the tour, the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono (PA) Raceway. "Rich and I have a relationship where we are more like brothers than we are owner and driver," said Beverley. "We're close in age and have a lot of the same personal interests. Professionally, we both have the same drive to succeed. I think our recent performances are just the beginning of what youre going to see from Rich, James and the rest of the team the rest of this season and in the future."
