FORT WORTH-DALLAS (April 4, 2000) - Both the national and local Nielsen ratings for the DIRECTV 500 were up from last year with even more fans watching this year's CBS broadcast.

The Sunday, April 2 race garnered a 6.0 national rating with a 15 share, a jump up from a 5.4 rating and 14 share in 1999. The average number of households watching this year's race was 6,053,000, up 673,000 households from last year.

"We had a great weekend," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "It was a sellout crowd on hand for the DIRECTV 500, and the ratings are even better than last year. We couldn't be happier."

Local television ratings for the Fort Worth-Dallas market were strong as well for Sunday's DIRECTV 500 NASCAR Winston Cup race. The DIRECTV 500 drew an average rating of 7.8 and a 16 share, but peaked as high as a 10.4 rating and 21 share. The Fort Worth-Dallas ratings for the DIRECTV 500 were higher than the Metroplex ratings for the Daytona 500, which pulled a 5.5 average rating with a 13 share.

The rain-delayed Albertson's 300 presented by Pop Secret drew an estimated 3.4 local rating and 9 share for the race portion which was televised live on CBS.
