Rain halts racing in Fontana

Amanda Vincent, NASCAR correspondent

Rain at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., on Saturday brought out the red flag with 71 laps remaining in the 200-lap Auto Club 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at the track.

Tony Stewart took the red flag with the lead in the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet. Kyle Busch, in the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, was second when the race stopped.

"Our Office Depot/Mobile1 Chevrolet is bad fast," Stewart said. "It doesn't matter if we go back to green."

Busch inherited the second spot when JGR teammate Denny Hamlin in the No. 11 Toyota opted to pit when the caution that preceded the red flag came out.

"We're planning on going back green," Hamlin said.

As others stopped when the yellow came out, Dale Earnhardt Jr. moved into the third slot with his No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
