A steady persistent rain at Indianapolis Motor Speedway has forced NASCAR to cancel both practice session for Nextel Cup teams. Two practice sessions will be held on Saturday morning.

The first hour long practice will start at 8:00am (EST), after a 30 minute break, the green flag will wave to begin final practice from 9:30am to 10:30am. Qualifying originally slated for 10:10 am Saturday has been rescheduled to 3:10pm tomorrow afternoon.

Rain moved into the greater Indianapolis early Friday morning and at times was heavy. Slow moving storm cells and standing water at the race track in combination with a persistent drizzle made it clear late in the afternoon that track drying efforts would not be successful; forcing NASCAR to make the schedule amendments.
