Concord, NC -- Qualifying has been delayed following heavy rain and will continue at 8 a.m. Friday morning. The rain began as a slight drizzle over the 1.5 mile track. As track drying efforts were nearing completion, the skies opened up to a heavy downpour.

Eighteen drivers have laid down their fast laps and the field will pick up with driver Matt Kenseth. Kenseth was exiting turn one in his #17 Ford when he nearly lost control as the rain began to dampen the track. He saved the car; NASCAR then halted time trials for the track to dry. Kenseth will get a chance to re-qualify since his lap was run under wet conditions.

The fastest lap so far, comes from Petty Enterprises #44 Dodge of Jerry Nadeau. Nadeau expressed his content with a solid starting spot, "I don't think that will hold up for the pole, but it should be in the top 10."

Other on-track action included the 49 BAM entry of Stacy Compton. Compton bounced the rear end of his 49 off of the wall.

Winston Cup qualifying will be followed by Busch Series qualifying, the ARCA Series' season finale and Busch Series Happy Hour.
