PRODIGY IS NOW AN OFFICIALLY LICENSED lNTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER FOR NASCAR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 18, 1996) -- The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing announced today it has officially licensed Prodigy as an lnternet Service Provider for NASCAR, making; the online service one of the largest high-tech players to join the many consumer goods-oriented sponsors in the sport.

In its new role as an Officially Licensed lnternet Service Provider for NASCAR, Prodigy will distribute approximately 2 million Prodigy software disks at races throughout the 1996 season, offering NASCAR fans 20 free-trial hours of the Prodigy service. Through Prodigy, fans will have direct lnternet access to the World Wide Web, and an easy way to reach the NASCAR Online, the official Web site of NASCAR (http://www.nascar.com), and the Prodigy Auto Racing interest Group.

"The addition of Prodigy as an Officially Licensed Internet Service Provider symbolizes the many opportunities for an increasingly wider variety of companies to take part in the phenomenal growth NASCAR is experiencing right now," said Brian France, NASCAR Vice President of Marketing; and Corporate Communications.

"With millions of fans, NASCAR offers Prodigy the opportunity to real people who have yet to go online and experience the fun and experience of 'surfing the Net' and communication with other die-hard race fans across the country." said Barbara Sargenti, Vice President of OEM and retail customer acquisition at Prodigy.

The NASCAR affiliation extends Prodigy's involvement in the sport that includes primary sponsorship of Dave Marcis' No. 71 Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR Winston Cup Series team.

Prodigy Services Company, a partnership of IBM and Sears, markets the Prodigy service, the most recognized brand in the online industry. Prodigy Services Company offers its members a range of news, computing, weather and sports, financial information educational content games reference materials communications features such as e-mail, bulletin boards, USENET, newsgroups, travel reservations, shopping, financial features such as a discount brokerage and online banking; and hundreds of other offerings.
