Pontiac Racing Watkins Glen chassis notes

No. 10 Johnny Benson, who is coming off back-to-back top five finishes at Pocono and Indianapolis, last ran this chassis at Sears Point. He ran among the top five for much of the day before a series of late-race problems dropped him to 29th. No.

No. 14
Rookie Ron Hornaday posted practice speeds among the top 10 at Sears Point with this chassis before a mechanical failure sent him into a tire barrier. He was forced to switch to a back-up car, but still clawed his way to an 18th place finish, despite losing a wheel during the event.

No. 18
Bobby Labonte wheeled this version of the Interstate Batteries Pontiac to a seventh-place finish at Sears Point back in June. With that run, Labonte extended his top 10 streak on road courses to three races, which includes a fifth at Watkins Glen last year.

No. 20
Home Depot Pontiac driver Tony Stewart comes to Watkins Glen as Winston's Cup reigning road course king, having captured a victory at Sears Point with this chassis back in June. Stewart, who is currently fifth in the Winston Cup point standings, owns a pair of sixth-place finishes here in two career starts.

No. 27
Rick Mast, who took over the driving duties at Eel River Racing two weeks ago at Pocono, is looking for his second start in the No. 27 Pontiac this weekend. Mast is behind the wheel of the same chassis the team took to Sears Point in June, where it failed to make the show.

No. 36
M&M's Pontiac driver Ken Schrader is running the same chassis he ran at Sears Point, but the car remains somewhat a mystery heading into Watkins Glen. A broken gear early on in the Sears Point event stifled the team's effort (finished 37th), leaving few clues as to what the car may be capable of producing this weekend.
