TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

(ON THE START OF THE WINSTON) "I've never spun the tires that hard before
here on the start. We got down to [turn] one and we didn't have as much
momentum as most of those guys did. Everybody went in there and just
started sliding up the racetrack. I'm just glad we kept ours off the wall.
"Actually, spinning my tires helped me a bunch. Otherwise we probably would
have been right in the middle of that deal. Who knows?"

JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

(HOW WAS YOUR NIGHT OVERALL?) "All of it was good. We were just a little off at the end.

"I think we learned a lot. That is the first one (The Winston) we've been
in. We tried something at the end and it just didn't work out for us."

(WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST THING YOU LEARNED FOR NEXT WEEK'S RACE?) "Bring a better race car. That's all we need to do. This was a good race car, but it's probably not the best race car or a great race car for here. We've just got to work and see what happens next week."

(HOW MUCH DID THE TRACK CHANGE TONIGHT?) "I think the track changed, but I think it changed because of the rain. With the Hoosier rubber on there from the ARCA race, I really don't think it got all the way off. It was different, but it was actually better for us in The Winston than it was in The Open."

(ON WINNING TWO TROPHIES HERE IN TWO DAYS) "Well, we got one of those given
to us. But, we'll take it, learn by it and go on."

BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

(ON YOUR RUN) "It was alright. I had a good run. Overall it was a good night for the Interstate Batteries Pontiac. We qualified second and finished fourth, so we can't complain too much."

(IS THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN TRANSFER TO THE "600" NEXT WEEK?) "I think so - a little bit. I think we've got a pretty good package here. We just need to work on it a little bit more. We've come a long way in the past few weeks and I think it's going to help our racing out."

(WAS YOUR MOVE TOWARD THE 12TH POSITION AT THE END OF THE FIRST SEGMENT A STRATEGY MOVE?) "It could have been. But it didn't really work out, so it really didn't matter. I figured if we couldn't win [that segment], then we should just get in position for the next 30 laps. That was the idea, but it just didn't work for me. It was OK. We made a good run, but we just didn't quite have enough for the guys in front of us."

TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

(ON YOUR RUN) "Well, you have nights like that. We had a great race car tonight. I'll tell you what, I'm really excited about next week because on long runs we've got a great race car.

"I want to give a call to my motor guys tonight. They build strong engines and I proved that tonight. I thought I really hurt the engine at the start. I spun the tires at the start/finish line and over-revved it pretty good. I was pretty worried about it, but not only did it survive, it stayed strong. It was just a really good piece - one of a bunch that I've had this year."
