RON HORNADAY , NO. 14 CONSECO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
THAT WAS A SOLID LAP... "It was. This car was good right off the trailer. This whole Conseco team is working really well right now. The car got through the corner better than we thought it was going to and it hit the chip (rev limiter) harder. Maybe we had the wrong chip in the car or the wrong gear. We definitely could have run a little bit quicker, but I'm happy with a good solid run like that. We needed to make this race. That will get us in the show and that's what we needed. "We just needed a good lap to get a good pit stall for these guys. We just need to keep our nose clean this week and get a good finish."

RICK MAST, NO. 27 DUKE'S MAYONNAISE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"I don't know what happened. Our car got extremely loose. We were good in practice - we were just a little tight. But for some reason - I don't know if the track was slick or whatever - but, I couldn't touch the gas either lap getting off the corners. It was just extremely loose."

BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We picked it up just a little bit right there before the end of practice and got up to eighth. The guys did a good job. I wish we could have gotten a little more grip out of the car, but I guess it was fast enough to not worry about that for a couple laps.

"I thought I was a little bit too loose to go fast. It wasn't as comfortable as I'd like for it to be, but it was also faster than I thought it was going to be, so I'm not going to complain about it. It just didn't feel like I had much grip on it, but I guess it rolled the center just right."

ON STARTING UP FRONT, RUNNING FOR $1 MILLION "It's just good to start up front no matter where you're at. We've got a good starting spot and hopefully it will lead to good things for the weekend."

KEN SCHRADER, NO. 36 M&M'S PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
ON RUNNING QUICKER ON THE FIRST LAP "That's not good. That means that I probably messed up the second lap. I thought the second lap was a little better than that. But, we were 15th or something like that in practice. I just missed my marks just a little bit. Rusty [Wallace] put a number up there that you really had to try to go get it. But, this will be a good starting spot for us."

JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR RUN? "Not good. I wrecked the primary car and
that car was pretty good. This car is pretty decent, too. I'm looking
forward to the race with it. It was just a little slipping a sliding there
in qualifying. We can do better, but we'll take that today."

IS THERE MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR PRIMARY CAR AND YOUR BACKUP CAR? "Not a whole lot. That (qualifying) was only the third lap on the car. We only got two laps on it and then we had to qualify, so I guess we can be pretty happy with that. We'll get it better for the race and look forward to Saturday night."
