JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

ON YOUR LAP

"I got everything I could get - that's for sure. I'm really happy. It was a good lap for the Valvoline Pontiac. I bumped the track a little bit, but I saw a lot of guys that did that. The car wasn't as comfortable as it could possibly be, but it was still pretty good. I got through one and two good; I got through three and four pretty dang good, so I thought the lap was going to be OK. I was waiting for James [Ince] to tell me to just go ahead, run the one lap and shut it off, but he didn't. I was like, 'Oh man, I've got to run one more.' It's pretty tough to get around this place two laps."

ON YOUR CONFIDENCE IN THIS CAR FOR SUNDAY

"I'm fairly confident in this car for Sunday. The guys just do a tremendous job week-in and week-out. I love jumping in these race cars. They build some good ones. "This one is a little bit better than the one we had here last week, so I'm looking forward to it."

WAS IT TOUGH TO GO OUT AFTER DALE JARRETT CRASHED?

"That was nerve-wracking. I'm still shaking a little bit. They could tell me that he hit the apron. They could tell me he drove in the grass first or whatever, but it's still on your mind that something happened. I wasn't the next guy, but I was the second guy after him and you always have that doubt until you run through the corner. After I got through three and four coming to the green I felt pretty confident that we were going to be OK and just ran as hard as I could."

TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

ON YOUR RUN

"I'm pretty happy with that. But, it's so hard because you just don't know how hard you can really run, to be honest. You know you can pick it up, but you just don't know how hard to go in there without going too hard. The car drove really good. I'm really excited about it."

DO YOU THINK YOU COULD HAVE DRIVEN A LITTLE HARDER THAN YOU DID?

"I probably could have gone a little bit harder, but I don't think I was going to get two-tenths. We might have been able to pick up a little bit more. It's just hard. I was just judging off of what everybody else had done. I talked to Jimmy Makar and Bobby's team and they said the track had a lot of grip in it. But, saying it has 'a lot of grip' -- how much is 'a lot?'

HOW DO YOU FEEL RIGHT NOW?

"I feel good. Everything I've been eating has kept me from being fatigued no matter how rough the days have been so far."

DO YOU FEEL GOOD ABOUT BOTH THE INDY 500 AND THE COKE 600 AT THIS POINT?

"I'm real confident right now. We've got good race cars for both events and that helps you physically, too. If you've got good driving cars at both places, you can relax in the race car and conserve energy that way. I'm real excited about a good weekend right now."

ON STILL FOCUSING ON QUALIFYING DESPITE KNOWING THAT YOU'LL PROBABLY START AT THE REAR OF THE FIELD ON SUNDAY DUE TO MISSING THE DRIVERS MEETING WHILE YOU RUN THE INDY 500

"We still wanted to run good and run strong today, even though we know we're going to have to go to the back. The first thing is just to get in logistically, so we didn't have to use a provisional. But you want to do more than that just to get a better pit selection. We worked really hard today just like everybody else did."

RON HORNADAY, NO. 14 CONSECO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:

ON YOUR RUN

"I'm really excited. This is the car we came and tested here with a couple weeks ago and it was junk. We couldn't do anything with it. We took it home, cut the front clip off of it and came back here three days later. We got to run The Winston Open and learned a bunch on it. These guys just never say die. We're going to get these things changed around. It was very hectic this week, just because we knew we didn't have a provisional. We knew we had to get in the show and I put a lot of pressure on myself. Now, I know I can do it, so look out now. "Like I said, these guys on this Conseco Pontiac never stop. They really want to race and they really want to win. We're pretty excited now. Things are starting to work good."
