PONTIAC APPOINTS NEW MOTORSPORTS COORDINATOR
DETROIT (July 1, 1998)–Pontiac-GMC Division has announced the appointment of Herschel Hicks as the Motorsports Coordinator for all of the division’s racing programs in North America.
Hicks replaces Ken Millett, who was reassigned to Pontiac-GMC’s field organization in the Boston zone. Hicks will be responsible for assisting Motorsports Manager, Fred Simmond’s day-to-day administrative activities and race team relations and support.
Hicks, previously a Marketing Services Senior Analyst for GM’s Delphi Interior and Lighting Division, supervised trade shows, exhibits, and OEM technical information for Delphi. In addition, he was responsible for working with 10 GM parts divisions to assess marketing and planning policies throughout the entire operation.
Hicks’ racing background includes the development and implementation of marketing-based motorsports programs for Ford, Chevrolet, and STP Corporation. While working for Racemark International and Valeo Lighting, he was the product manager for imported OEM after-market sports car accessories servicing a broad base of automotive manufacturers and brands.
A member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), Hicks graduated from New York’s Skidmore College with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
"We are pleased to welcome Herschel to the Pontiac-GMC team," said Fred Simmonds, Motorsports Manager. "His diverse background brings a lot of experience to the table."
Hicks is slated to assume his post at Pontiac-GMC immediately.
