ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Best Buy Dodge Charger)
WITH HOW BIZAAR WAS THE TIRE SITUATION AT INDY LAST WEEK, CAN YOU CARRY YOUR TOP-FIVE FINISH INTO POCONO THIS WEEKEND? "We can definitely carry the momentum into this weekend. If your throw out the tire situation last week, everybody brings their best car to Indy. You bring the best car that you have in the shop. You bring your best motor that you have in your shop with the most horsepower on the dyno because Indy is one of the biggest races, if not the biggest race of the year. For us to go up to Indy and be competitive on Sunday -- as well as Friday in qualifying and Saturday in practice -- there's a lot of momentum on our team right now coming here to Pocono."
WHAT IS YOU OUTLOOK FOR THIS WEEKEND? "I think that we just want to come up here and run good and be competitive. We were running ninth here in June with 20 laps to go and got a flat tire and ended up in 34th - last car on the lead lap. We've got a lot of confidence. Our teammate (Kasey Kahne) ran really good here last time -- led a lot of laps, won the race and sat on the pole -- so we feel like we can come here and use his setup. We're coming back with a little bit more motor. We're coming back with a little bit better configuration in the car. We really feel like we can take the momentum that we have had the last few months and keep it going."
ARE THE TEAMS PROGRESSING SO MUCH ON THIS CAR THAT YOU HAVE TO BRING A TOTALLY DIFFERENT SETUP? "I think so. The track is always different the second time that you come here. It's always hotter. It's always slicker. It's always a looser condition than what you had during the first race. The times usually slow down a bit, so I'm sure the setup will be a little bit different. We'll just have to adjust to it -- we do know that we're going to be fast. We've got some good motors here that have been fast in the past. We just need to adjust with the track and we should be fine."
OVER THE PAST MONTH, IS THIS THE TYPE OF RACE TEAM ELLIOTT SADLER WAS THINKING HE WOULD HAVE WHEN COMING OVER TO GILLETT EVERNHAM? "Yes. Definitely. I hate that it's taken this long to get going, but I've changed a lot over the way that I do things. I think that getting Rodney (Childers, Team Director) over here has been great. I really didn't have a crew chief last year -- we were going back and forth and that's hard in today's world. I think once Rodney and I learned about each other -- and what he needs to work on the car and what I need to do to go fast. Since the Charlotte test, all the pieces of the puzzle seem to have come together for us and the No. 9 car. Once we headed to the Charlotte test and learned a lot about each other, ever since then we've been really, really good. We just haven't had the luck that we needed."
